Chad C. Swafford,50, of Cleveland and formerly of Riceville, departed this life Friday morning, October 12, 2018 at his home.
He was a devoted son, father, and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by two infant sons Rory and William, his maternal grandparents, Basil and Dorothy Nunley and paternal grandparents Roy and Suda Swafford, and an aunt, Gail Nunley Womac.
He was a member of the Overcoming Faith Christian Center. He was a graduate of McMinn County High School and had attended Tennessee Wesleyan University and was a former exchange student in Japan.
He is survived by a daughter and her husband, Katelyn and Jordan Jackson, his grandson, Corinthian "Rinny" Jackson of all Riceville; his financee', Stacy Martin of Athens ; his mother, Linda Swafford and his father, Ron Swafford both of Riceville; a brother and his wife, Dr. Craig and Stacy Swafford of Dayton; several nieces and nephews ; and a host of friends from around the world.
A funeral service will be conducted 7:00 pm, Tuesday, October 16, 2018 in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home with Rev.Travis Roberts officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:30 pm, Tuesday at the funeral home prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Randy Davis, Randy Hyde, Michael Ayres, Adrian Brown, Gordon McGlynn, Tanner Swafford, Mitch Teague and Tony Hester.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial donations be made to Katelyn Jackson, for a savings account for his grandson Corinthian Jackson,c/o Bowater Credit Union, 1112 Congress Parkway South, Athens, TN 37303.
